Queen rearing
Our history of rearing queen bees can be read in „ About us” section of our website. Here we would like to give you short technical information. To maintain a clean bloodline, every year we obtain the Carniolan breeding stock (Apis mellifera Carnica) from breeders with whom our family has been in contact for decades. We test these queens and their crosses in our own apiaries, we make sure of the characteristics of their offsprings, then we select the most suitable ones and in future they will be used for further breeding. The beekeepers only receive queen bees that contribute to the easy handling of the bee colonies, and the outstanding honey yield. For the sake of superior quality, breeding is carried out exclusively with queen bee- nurse colonies.
We supply queen bees to beekeepers from the first week of May to the first week of July, taking advantage of the most reliable, best time for mating. We recommend the beekeepers to make spare small bee colonies during this period, which can reliably replenish the missing queen bees later (in July and August) in the future.
We can send mated and unmated queen bees by post, after prior consultation. Queen cells can be ordered only with personal receipt.
We kindly ask you to submit your order in time so that we can provide the delivery to the desired time.
